Good evening:
Visiting a WTL dealer might be on my bucket list for the closest one is 10 hours away but thankfully in the same time zone. Could ping Mike Prada but this seemed like a good group for advice and answers.
Mono analog would be a secondary analog source for me. Simplex’s cost would be whatever it is. The issue for me isn’t cartridge cost so much but compatibility with WTL tonearms. Hope is people will share their successes and just as important their failures about mono cartridges on WTL arms. Granted, it makes budgetary sense that the cheaper mono cartridges out there would line up with the Simplex. I am familiar with monos from Denon, Audio Technica, and Hana but not their results when used with the Simplex.
Consensus seems to be mono records that were cut with mono cutting heads do sound different from stereo records in terms of noise level and depth of stage. That is where my interest lies. No pretense that I can describe the engineering and not sound like a layman.
Thanks,
Killian
