I have a lot to report, and am looking for some help from AC members.

The builders are adding the finishing touches on my new audio room. Nathan at 8th Nerve is shipping his new Adapt room treatment. Now I need to start moving furniture and audio equipment. So in about a month I will have a state of the art listening environment.

I spoke to Stan Warren yesterday, and he is once again starting Superphon. His first product is the new Revelation III preamp. He is sending me an audition copy in about a month. Stan indicates that this new preamp is a single ended, class A buffer/preamplifier.  The buffer stage is a unity gain impedance converter that provides  a low output drive impedance and a high input impedance. With no gain or feedback, the signal path is simple and there are only five parts in the signal path.

You might have seen the post by Marbles on Akfest (http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=18191&highlight=akfest) talking about Stan's new preamp.

So heres the deal. I will have a new room with the new 8th Nerve Adapt Room Treatment, Stan's Revelation III, with my Daedalus DA-1 speakers set up for audition next month. I would like to invite AC members over (weekends only) to help me audition all of these great toys.

I hope that this will be the start of a Houston based Audio Club. Send me a PM if you are interested.

That is great. One of my first real High End products was a Rev 2 G. Later purchased a pair of Maxx 80B's. Stan is a great person to deal with.
I look foreward to hearing his new brainchild. FYI, there is a bottleneck meeting Fred Thmpson's this Saturday. There will lots of tube gear there.
But there should be plenty of diy dacs, T-amps, speakers, and the like too. Eamil me if you want to attend and I will send you directions, it is off of Eldridge between I-10 and 290.

Panelhead,

Is this get together by invitation only?  I live in the Galleria area and would like to meet other audiophools around town.

I can't make this Saturday, but would be interested in your next meeting....assuming, of course,  your tribe don't automatically kill strangers; this being Texas and all.

Thanks,
John

PS - JCC, you got mail.

If this keeps up, we could push for our own regional circle here 8)

I would love to hear the Daedalus speakers
I'll have to try to get in on the next tube gathering, too.

I hope that doesn't slow down his progress in fixing my two DH500 Haflers that I sent him, just over eight years ago.

Bingo...I'm just hoping my Aiwa tranport is right behind your Haflers...but then again, he's only had mine for a little over 2 years!

My new audio room is finished. On Sunday 4/25 I moved equipment and furniture. The Eighth Nerve Adapt room treatment will be applied in a few weeks. In the meantime, I have attached some photos:

I will add some additional photos after the Eighth Nerve Adapt is installed.  :D

What are the dimensions of the room?

Looks like a big challenge (lots of stuff in what looks like a relatively small room with lots of furniture between the speakers).

Do you pull the speakers out for listening or do they stay in the corners?

The dimensions are 19 1/2 X 12 1/2 - The speakers are about 3 feet from the rear wall.

How do you like the new room?

In what ways did the sound improve over the previous room you had your system in?

BTW, congrats on the new room - ENJOY!!

Is it Better

I finished moving in yesterday in the afternoon, and listened for a few hours. This morning I headed out on a two week business trip. So far it sounds pretty good to me, but I am still evaluating. It wil be interesting to listen for several days and then install the Eighth Nerve product.

Once that occurs, I will have more to say.

Well, I just completed adding the Eighth Nerve Product to my sound room. My initial observations is that imaging, soundstaging  and clarity were all significantly improved. Actually, I couldn't believe the difference:

The Daedalus DA-1's were always outstanding, but I couldn't believe how much the room modes were holding them back.

I will post additional information after a few weeks, but today I am impressed with the improvement.

hey jesse,

the new room looks nice! bet you have some good bass in it due to the size of the room.  Have you tried to listen with/without the picture on the left speaker and see if it makes and difference? I used to put items on my speakers and it affected High frequencys on my old Paradigm 100's.

I have been busy, I apologize for not getting back to you when you called to chat.

please enjoy the new room!

JCC,
The next time you talk to Stan, ask him how my two Hafler DH500's and accessories are coming along? Nine years and counting.

8-9 years for a repair is really, really wrong... does he have a explanation or willing to send them back ?? that is plain wrong !!!!

that is one advantage i have noticed of buying from a dealer...the warranty repair is generally quicker and the loaner is the mean time is appreciated...

I just received my Adcom GFA-5500 back from Stan after a few years. It was a long wait, but well worth it!

Clubmyke,
I'm glad you agree.  I have a friend that has talked to Warren about it and by what my friend tells me, Stan tells him one thing and me another.  He LOST the money, that UPS was willing to give me for the repairs, by taking so long that UPS dopped the claim.  That was my money, folks! Gone! My amps...GONE TOO!
Eric, no offense, but I doubt if I will be impressed.  I've used some of his stuff.  I would guess that all the electrolitic caps in my missing Haflers have been given a death senctence by sitting around rotting.   I'm not going to back off until I get satisfaction.
Is this how he treats other customers?
Inquiring customers need to know.

I was not in any way defending his treatment of you. I was just reporting back on the finished product

"I just received my Adcom GFA-5500 back from Stan after a few years. It was a long wait, but well worth it!"

Just butting in here, but....Does Stan Warren get different treatment regarding his lengthy waits for mods because he is Stan Warren? SEVERAL YEARS to get a modded amp back and you're OK with that?  Maybe it's just me, but if anyone took my money and years to get my product back to me, I'd be a little bit less forgiving and a lot more pissed, no matter who I was dealing with.
