What is a Forbidden song that you like? One that I like is Red Light Lady by Nazareth. You won't find it on Amazon HD I suspect because it's forbidden. It's from an early album of Nazareth possibly their first album.

Why did they forbid it?

I don't know if it's forbidden, but this is a heartbreaking song and performance.

"Rootless Tree", Damien Rice.

The singer/composer Raul Seixas 1945-1989  RIP
Informed in his lasts years he had 11 songs not released due censorship, til today these songs do not appear.

After the release of the song Alternative Society(1974) he was arrested again, his captors wanted to know who was the leader of the alternative society
(Except)
Hooray! Hooray!
Hooray for the alternative society!
Long live the alternative society! (Long live the new aeon)
Hooray for the alternative society! (Hooray! Hooray!)
Cheers to the alternative society!
If I want and you want
To take a bath in a hat
Or wait for Santa Claus
Or discuss Carlos Gardel
Then go
Do what you want 'cause it's all in the law
The law
Hooray! Long live the alternative society!
Long live the alternative society! (Do what you want, it's all of the law)

Strange Fruit - Billy Holiday

The song was probably the main reason for her being denied a Cabaret Card, which meant she was banned from singing in clubs in New York City for the rest of her life.
She was ordered not to sing it at the Earle Theatre in Philadelphia and the very next day was arrested with planted narcotics leading to her imprisonment.
Radio stations in the US and abroad blacklisted it and Holiday’s label, Columbia Records, refused to record it.

Peter,

WOW!  :o There's so much pain and anguish in this song. It might be better to listen to it during the day instead of just before bed.

WGH,

Yes. Strange Fruit is a frightening song, too. An excellent example of a forbidden song. Thankfully, it's no longer forbidden.

Louie Louie by the Kingsman (and others) was supposed to be a dirty song and because none of us could make out the lyrics on our tiny am portable radios in 1963 we believed it.  The FBI spent thirty months trying to decipher the lyrics.

Home, coming home
No more hesitating
Glad I'm coming home, coming home
Where my love is waiting
I felt that I wanted the freedom to play, left you for to roam
I see it was wrong now for me to have strayed and I'm coming home
Coming home, where my love is waiting
When I was away far from all that I knew, all afraid and alone
Know that every day I would call out for you, wanting to go home
Now I'm coming home
Coming home
No more hesitating
Glad I'm coming home, coming home
Where my love is waiting
Now I realise what I need's not out there: and I should have known
Now I see where I need to be and declare that I'm coming home

Home, coming home
No more hesitating
Yes I'm coming home, where I'm so very glad that I find
That my love is waiting
Didn't think you'd let me return to the nest from which I had flown
Not a chance and yet now I learn I've been blessed
And I'm coming home
And I'm coming home
And I'm coming home
And I'm coming home
And I'm coming home!
Home, coming home
No more hesitating
Glad I'm coming home, coming home
Where my love is waiting
I felt that I wanted the freedom to play, left you for to roam
I see it was wrong now for me to have strayed and I'm coming home.
