hey toobluvr, your system looks really nice, from those gallery pics.  now, all ya need is a quality tuna to replace that carver!     seriously, if ya have a decent staiton w/quality signal & programming, a quality tuna will rival your cd & winyl sources.  and, ya *don't* need to spend a fortune on one either.

It's the oldest piece of gear in my system, and I kindof like it!

It actually sounded really nice and I got great reception in NYC....which always surprised me given all the interference in the city.  The thing pull and locked on signals like a champ!   Picked up some excellent stations there:  jazz on WBGO in NJ, and all kinds of nice stuff on WFUV out of Fordham.

I was always impressed at how "hi-end" it sounded.....so much so that I listened to it a lot.  But since I moved I get no reception on it.....absolutely nothing.   Funny because there are tons of stations.  I get them fine on my car radio.    They also come in fine on the several transistor radios I have in the house.

I'm wondering if it got damaged in the move, or if I need to hook it up to an outside antenna?   When I hook it up (without external antenna) all I get is static and pink noise.  Any thoughts or advise?

And hey, as far as a different one, I'm all ears.  I keep an open mind, so what do you have to tell me?

actually, that tuna (tx11?) was noted for excellent reception capabilities, & ok sound quality.  while an outside directional antenna will almost always improve reception & sonics of *any* halfway decent or better tuna, it sounds like something may have happened to yer tuna.  easiest way to find out would be to either take it somewhere else to a location that a buddy w/a tuna is getting good signal, or to have someone bring his good tuna to your place.

if you get your carver sorted out & are happy w/it, it's likely better sounding than i've been led to believe - w/your system, if you think it's hi-end sounding, then it's likely pretty good!    if yure finding something is wrong w/it, & yure looking for a place to get it repaired, or ya wanna replace it, lemme know - i can offer some sugggestions.

I've had my Swifts now for approx 1 1/2 weeks and have to say I'm pretty impressed with the way they sound and look.  The finish is a light maple and believe sold for a higher price then the standard ash finish.  These were B stock because they had no feet or grills but Curtis furniture supplied them for a nominal price and  aside from that I can't detect any nicks or blemishes on either speaker and appear as new.  I've been reading that Meadowlarks in general have a long break-in time but I already like the way these sound more than my GR AV-1's  the sound is more detailed effortless and open.  Bass isn't an issue as I am using an Adire Rava sub with them.  My room is  18x20 10  and my  Cayin TA-30 is more then capable of driving them at sufficient levels.   The small footprint these have is also a plus.  I really like these speakers but can't help but think how the Rocket 550 MK11 B stock would have been for just a little more money.   The shipping is almost $200.00 though!!  oh well.
