Cornet2 cap tweak. Help
« on: 8 Apr 2005, 03:46 am »
Would I be going backward if I paralleled 2 .47uf caps at c208 instead of the 1uf. I have some russian paper in oil caps to try out, but I don't want to waste time with this if it's not a good idea. Any opinions? There would be a .47 p.i.o. and a .47 film.  Thanks.

Unless C208 is a very-tight-tolerance cap, say, in a critical filter circuit, two 0.47s are well within the standard + or - 10% tolerance.

Let 'er rip!

Why not use 2 of the Russian PIOs?

I'd go with just one of them.  As a coupling cap, 0.47uF is usually large enough.  Parallel caps of similar size or type can cause smearing of the sound.

jh :)
