As a rock fan back in the late 60s/early 70s I loved bands like early Chicago and Journey (shortly after Neal Schon and Greg Rolie left Santana to form the band). Both of these bands devolved into what I affectionately refer to as "Kleenex Rock" - sappy pop bands that turned their backs on their roots to sell more albums, and it worked. To me, their music became more than annoying, it became cringe worthy. This is EXACTLY the stuff my wife loves and I honestly can't stand it particularly when she plays it in the car and I can't get away.
I was a huge Journey fan. Really the first 4 albums where Neil Schon was more the guitar player center stage. And I loved Greg Rolies voice. Hell, I met those guys at a record store and had them sign my new "Next" album. (Roommate effin stole that album and my Johnny Winter's album Jonathon Winters the Third). Then along came Steve Perry. I was NOT happy.
Over the decades and yeah, wife absolutely loves the Journey Steve Perry versions I came to respect and embrace him as well as the talent he always was..
And after what, 4 maybe 5 decades, I found a copy of Jonathon Winters the Third literally last week!
