Are the DAC'S in the BDA-3 the same as the BR-20 or are the DAC'S in BR-20 upgraded?

Hi Barry, the dac may be identical but I can tell from my experience that a br20 sounds more refined than  bda3 in combination with a bp173. I traded in the combo to get a br20 after listening to a test sample. No idea why it sounds better with digital music if the dac is identical but it definitely does... says also my wife. And she definitely does not hear a better sound because she longs for the newer amp.

I think it that situation you are listening to the differences in the preamp sections between the BR20 and the BP17.
