merc, dunno if ya awreddy shipped yer denon, but if it were me, i'd get the modwright pre first. why? first of all, tubed preamps rule!
secondly, no way i'd *ever* pay $2500 to mod a cdp. not w/the plethora of fantastic dacs awailable in the $500-$1k range. these dacs will get ya to a point so close to the best digital has to offer, why pay more? some folk will argue that they *are* as good as digital gets - ask hantra how he feels about his scott nixon dac. likely dac suspects are benchmark, mytek, mensa di/o, audio mirror, scott nixon, ack! also, there's the perpetual technologies dac, modded by dan. these are found on the used market for ~$1k. these are yust ones i know about, there are likely others.
