Gallos are about 50 hours into the burn-in process...playing em at 95dB, with a coupla sleeping bags/comforters carefully placed to muffle the noise from the neighbors during the long hours of low-frequency thumping whillst I'm at work...They seem to be headed to be truly exceptional speaker. They actually sounded quite good out of the box, then about 10 hours in, took on a dullness in hugh-end as well as lower frequency (to be expected, I'm told by the accompanying literature and some reports I read). Now its beginning to pick up higher and lower end detail and richness, but I think I've got another 50 hours of loud burn-in before the 'clear window' opens...
The RX-F10 can be shut down, though, playing at too high a volume, or with a high volume with the 'bass boost' enacted...coupla chirpy pops, and down goes Frazier! ...Shuts the peppy little receiver off..but I'm talkin pretty loud, beyond what I would normally listen to...It's a power
limitation of the receiver, not a shortcoming of the speakes.
At this point, the speakers sound really good with the JVC at moderate to loud levels...they flatten with this combination with low level listening, at least at this point in their adolescence...
I must say I will be pursuing power conditioning a' la Chair Guy's rec's smeared across a dozen posts in a buncha circles...perhaps a small primer on conditioning and it relationship to cash outlay and recommended products would be helpful to this listener from the C.G., were he to have the time...like at this cost, I would recommend THIS, and at that cost, I would recommend THAT, but if ya REALLY want to hear what the JVC can do, then I think the Sultan of Brunei is casting off his used powerBar Elite in favor of the Lotus PowerBar Elite, and his representative might be able to do something for you-kinda thing.
Would I correct in assuming the es-L1 wouldn't be a particularly good match for these speakers?
