Stillwater (2021) starring Matt Damon

A strong performance by Matt Damon keeps Stillwater from becoming a maudlin film about an out of work Oklahoma roughneck trying to exonerate his daughter who is imprisoned in a Marseille, France jail for murder. Camille Cottin is perfect as his friend, interpreter and moral center of the story. Marseille, France is beautiful and old and distracts you from Matt's dreadful Oklahoma accent.
Stillwater is more a slow paced character study than the action adventure trailer suggests and looses it's momentum toward the end but stick with it for an emotional ending.
I agree with the 75% RT rating, the film is about 3/4 good which is better than the other stuff I have been watching that is not even worth a review.
