Minari (2021) is a warm and tender story of a Korean-American family following their dream by moving from California to rural Arkansas in order to start a farm. The autobiographical drama stars Steven Yeun who played Glenn Rhee on 7 seasons of "The Walking Dead".
South Korean actor Yuh-Jung Youn plays the foul mouthed Grandma, well known in her home country with a career that spans over 55 years in film and television.
Will Patton plays Paul, a very rural Arkansan who has more common sense than book learning. Will has been acting since 1979 and has 111 film credits, he shows up everywhere and disappears into the role of Paul.
The slow pace of the film allows the characters to develop and mature. Alice, my movie buddy, suggested we see the film and she liked it a lot.
The dialog is a mix of Korean (subtitled) and English.
