What to do with broken stuff?
« on: 28 Nov 2020, 11:21 am »
I have a set of Linn 5140 speakers, where I think one of the cross-overs went bad.  I have a Jeff Rowland #10 that no longer works.  In the past, I've fixed things myself, such as I fixed a Creek amp where the capacitors went bad.  I think I could fix both of these.

Problem: I currently don't have the time.  And if I did have the time, would I rather fix something old, or buy a set of speakers or (cheap) new amp I have to solder/build?

That is, once I get done with my house projects, I might get the time to do something.  But, if I get the time, fix something old or try to create something new?

What have you done with broken equipment?

They're generally not worth much when not working.  You may change your mind someday and get the urge to resurrect them , so I'd just set them aside and wait to see if that moment ever comes.

Get someone else to fix it for you, that’s what I do.
