Vision Q Settings.
« on: 24 Oct 2020, 06:26 pm »
I picked up a gently used Vision Q after hearing all the rave reviews to pair with my Dynavector 20x2L.

Just to make sure I am not screwing things up, switches up is on, down is off (cover off and switch panels to the right of the case). Switches 1 and 2 have to be on (up) to engage MC mode.

No matter what gain and loading I use in MC, I get a terrible scratchy/muffled sound like the Vision Q it is cutting out with very little output. I put it in MM setting by flipping all the switches down, sounds clear. I bypass the pre amp directly to the amp, sounds clear. Could it be something with the amp? I am using an old Marantz 2270 with this table and running into the phono.

Am I doing something wrong, or could it by an issue with the Vision Q?

You'd want to run an outboard phono preamp into a line input on the 2270 such as tuner, cd, tape, etc. not the phono input which has too much gain.

That was it

No issues with pre amp, user error. Vision Q sounds great.

Decided on 60 DB gain and 100 ohm loading for the Dyna 20x2 cart for best sound so far.
