For me, the initial key to the 103( or "r") is having a compatible tonearm. Then comes the proper SUT or step up. Aside from that, there's a plethora of options in regard to retipping and aftermarket alumium or wood bodies. These take things to the next level again. If you like the tone and balance of the 103r, I'd consider any or all of the above an upgrade. I honestly have no knowledge of the AT cartridge you mention, so I can't offer any help there.
