Anyone have advice on this?  I will be soldering foil inductors to capacitors and resistors with standard wire leads.

Thanks,

Hi, Arctos,

I used Solo 12awg foil inductors when I upgraded my Maggie crossovers.  Soldering component leads and/or hookup wire to them looks ugly but it's not difficult if you've got a nice hot iron.  (I don't use my normal fine-point, temperature controlled iron here ... I use a small hand-controlled iron with a chisel head about 1/4" long.  It can pump out a lot of heat, fast.)

I found the easiest way was to fold the end of the foil in half and then fold back 1/4" so the wire/component lead joins the foil at right angles and is sandwiched between the folds of the copper foil.  Then you just apply lots of solder!  Coat the result with polyurethane, if you are worried about the bare copper tarnishing.

Regareds,

Andy

Thanks Andy,
Sounds like is shouldn't be too tough.  I also like the idea of coating the solder area with polyurethane to eliminate the chance of corrosion.
