Couple of Questions About the DAC DAC
« on: 1 Jun 2020, 04:33 am »
Hi
Couple of questions about the DAC DAC.
Noticed it is to be fed by a 12 volt DC supply,
But, no mention of how many amps it requires.
Thinking it may be 12 volt, 2 amps but that is just a pure guess.
How many amps is it?
Assume that, ideally it should be fed from a linear power supply.
Can you supply one?
Did not see it on the site.
Or, maybe you could recommend some suitable linear power supply units.
Keep up the good work.
You make some great stuff.
Look after yourself.

Bruce,

500mA (6W) is more than enough for the Cherry DAC DAC.

We’ve tested with injected power supply noise (and various power supplies) and have found no difference in performance. Let me explain why this is the case....

Power enters the DAC (regulated 12VDC in the case of the small stock supply) and is reconstructed in several steps. The analog supplies are then re-regulated for ultra low noise.  The digital supplies are filtered and decoupled at the destination.  The idea is to make a device immune to power supply noise.

Thanks for the complements (:

Thanks.
Love the way that you always come back and answer questions in such a nice way.
