Sorry B,
I haven't had much time to spend here lately.
I didn't get your pm, and I didn't even know you had it.

Lak is the next and LAST person on the list. Please PM him to exchange shipping info. I am also pm'ing you with his email address and address.

BTW, don't you owe us a review of your audition?  :nono:

I plan to do a shootout of my noise control gear and the infamous DeZorel, if you guys don't mind.  I was last night at Lak's and was taking a look at his new, (146 dB noise reduction) isolation transformer.  Looks very nice.  He also has an Equi=Tech BPT and is using one of my Clear Image T4 filters.  Here I have the big ONEAC, the Elgar regenerator and a couple T4's.  I guess the Dezorel is going to meet the toughest competition out there!

Psychic,
That's a great idea - you must live near Lak, so it should be convenient to work with Lak to come up with an interesting review.

Well, Lak tried the DeZorel and purchased one! :P

I took it tonight and the preliminary results are very promising.  The little Serbian wonder has smoked my multithousand dollar medical grade Elgar regenerator!!!

There's some things I wanted to post before getting the unit but work has been really hectic and irregular.  More will follow...

DeZorel Mini Review

Mini Review of DeZorel G2

After using the DeZorel in my system for one week and a few days (I only needed to hear it for one session), I whole heatedly indorse this product. I tried it with every possible combination within my system and regardless where I placed it, there was improvement. I liked it so much I was able to purchase a domo unit, if Audiocircle as a group were able to make a group purchase of a DeZorel or the brick, I’m very interested.  I even heard an improvement when utilizing the G2 on top of my 240/120 Isolation Transformers that feed my dedicated sub-panel from my main panel.

Advantages I detected:
1) Extraordinary power line isolation.
2) Improvements in clarity, imaging and low level resolution, and in some cases all resolution.
3) Suppresses digital, RF, ground loop, and switching power supply noise.
4) Significantly decreases leakage current and noise between equipment.

I couldn't agree more with the above conclusions, they correspond EXACTLY with my own. Which is why I have a filter in every room, and two in mine (Senior for the audio, PowerStation 1 for the PC and associated gear - kinda changes the quality of my monitor and scanner).

But I have one question - you keep a spare house for the gear you listed, or what?

And I thought I was the local freak ....

Cheers,
DVV

I have really good things to say about the DeZorel but unfortunately there's been a little accident in my system and one of my main pieces is out for repair. :bawl:  In the meantime, I plan to drive to Deano's house sometime this coming weekend and take the DeZorel with me.  Deano's got his homemade beast filter and has a BPT 3.5 on order.  We should get a pretty good idea of how the DeZorel works.  I have yet to compare it to my T4 but I'll need to wait until I get my injured component back.

So far, I can say the DeZorel is capable of feeding my entire system without strain.   It offers a blacker background than the Elgar Regenerator and has more bass, soundstage and overall musicality.   My Sony WEGA does not lie.  There is more depth of video image and better colors/definition than with the Elgar.

I also took the DeZorel to my friend Tony's extremely noisy rental apartment.  He has purchased some of my gear, like my Tice A/V Solo filter, Cambridge D300SE CDP, JMlab Tantal 509 speakers and is using one of our NAD 7125 receivers (rigged w/ military silver plated copper, Teflon insulated & shielded cord), which is exactly the gear I was using before repairing my Proton power amp.  He's also using an Absolute Power Cord for the CDP and my sister's ONEAC 3.5 amp isolation transformer.

The ONEAC was plugged to the digital outlet of the Tice and was feeding the Cambridge D300SE CDP.  I switched that rig for the DeZorel and there was absolutely no doubt: the DeZorel smoked the combination of Tice + ONEAC :flame: .  More bass, more music, less noise.  After a while, I decided to try and plug the ONEAC to the DeZorel and use it for further filtering and isolating the CDP, as it was done with the Tice A/V Solo.  The result of isolating the CDP was a shrinking of vertical soundstage but an increase in depth towards the rear wall.  High frequencies smoothened and after a while I could tell things were quieter and more musical.  The ONEAC was definitely helping and not adversely affecting the music (one of the reasons I like them).  The ONEAC is just a C-core transformer with some capacitors in parallel accross the power outlets.  This is good news for people who live in urban areas and have systems with integrated amps/receivers and a CDP/DAC.  Getting a one brick DeZorel and a surplus ONEAC from eBay for $15-30 is a sure ticket for cleaner music on a budget.

I really liked the power cord provided with the DeZorel.  In spite of being extremely flexible, it was rather non resonant!  I would really like to experiment with this cord and make a couple homemade snakes...

I have told Miki this and I will post it here for the benefit of all:

I think the bricks are way oversized for digital components.  Perhaps a smaller brick could be developed for digital gear (that gear really consumes only 30-40W a piece).  Having the customer purchase one or two bricks that can run 20 amperes just to hook up digital gear is overkill in my opinion.

The concept of a case with several bricks makes sense for apartment living and/or people with only one dedicated line.  However, for people with multiple dedicated lines I find one case power filters limiting.  For example, Lak has six dedicated lines and my 220V ONEAC transformer/filter gives me two individually fused 110V outlets (which I can turn into four dedicated lines by cutting the tabs on the outlets and star wiring them).  When I finally get a house I would have at least six to eight dedicated lines.   I think this is where multithousand dollar power filters fail: it is much cheaper and cost effective to set up multiple dedicated lines rather than buying a very expensive one box power filter.  The case being presented here is that power delivery goes in tandem with noise control...

It would be nice if in the future the Bricks are available through professional installers for setting up custom installations at the electrical panel level.  Also, perhaps DeZorel could do like the Tice Powerblock IIIs and develop a one case filter with two power cords: one for line level components, one for power amps.

So far, Lak and I have been experimenting with the DeZorel and we are extremely impressed with the results.  I will post further resuts as they are available.   The experiment at Tony's house with my old system proves that really outstanding results can be obtained on a very modest budget and under rental apartment conditions.  The fact that the DeZorel is compatible with and enhanced by the small ONEAC type transformer filter is very good news.

There is hope!

I have no objection. Does anyone else. To get on the list you would need to pay $20 using Paypal to sign up for the tryout. Psychicanimal currently has it and would need to ship it to you, but you would need to be in the USA.

Well, I shipped the DeZorel to Audiojerry a couple days ago since he wanted to experiment some more and I can tell you I already miss it.   I have no doubt it is an extremely good unit.  A couple of things, mainly what's going on with distribution, prices and what is the life expectancy of these bricks.  Since they are sealed it doesn't look to me like the capacitors could be locally replaced after their service life is over.  That is a factor to be weighed against the big isolation transformers, which should have a service life of several decades!

All in all, it is a light, compact and effective unit--a great match with 220V/110V step down isolation transformers as Lak and I have found out.  It's a truly winning combination.
