Panasonic SA-XR50 Question
« on: 18 Feb 2005, 04:23 am »
Hey guys, i just had a quick question about the panny... Anybody have experience with the optical inputs? I was thinking about taking the optical out from my computers (soon to be) soundcard and running it through the panny since everyone says the panny is best for digital... this is really just a secondary thing i will also have my dvd player going to the coax. for most of my audio but i want to be able to use the comp. as a source as well. the soundcard will be a Chaintech AV-710 unless anyone has other advice.

thanks

I used to have an XR45 and I currently have an AV710.  I think it would be a pretty good match, especially if you are using it for your computer setup.  Search the Head-Fi forums for information on getting the most out of your 710 and Foobar2000.

Sure, using the optical output of the Chaintech, into the digital input of the Panny will be digital.

I assume that you will use kernal streaming, or ASIO etc to ensure bit perfect output from your soundcard?  There are threads about this here in the PC Audio Circle, or tons on Head-fi.

Have fun!

Is the kernel streaming for use with digital out from a soundcard only? I got the plugin for winamp and I got foobar. Everytime I try using kernel as the output an error is generated and the program shuts down.
