Great to read some of the outstanding dialog on the AudioCircle. I've been literally addicted to music and audio equipment since the late 60's when helping my dad build Heathkit projects and listening to old albums that he'd been collecting since just after WWII... after 31 years in the Navy, it's time to put down roots, set up a listening room and get out to catch some great shows in the St. Louis area... thanks for letting me into the AudioCircle...

Now the observation: The shear volume of choice in Music, Formats and equipment is staggering -- what a great problem to have.

Looking forward to continued spirited and informative discussion...

The easy approach to good sound quality at home:

1.) Stream all your music via Tidal, Qobuz, or Amazon HD monthly subscription;

2.) Use a NAD $550 MSRP Node 2i or $1650 MSRP C658 ("a Node 2i on steroids") as a streamer, DAC, and preamp;

3.) Use active monitors for the best dynamics, frequency response, imaging, and bass. Suggest $300/pair JBL 305 MkII, $1400/pair MSRP Neumann KH120, or $6000/pair MSRP PSI Audio A21M.
