I'm several years behind on this topic. I've read a good portion of the posts on this thread. I have an original pair of Forte's that I love the sound and excited to hear the improvements. I'm planning on buying the upgrade kit. I purchased mine used several years ago for $400 so I can afford to upgrade them.
I know the cross over board is not supplied. Do you have a recommendation of where to buy and the size? Thank you for all of this great information.

You dont need a PCB to assembly a xover.

My 2 cents opinions are:
Dont ''upgrade'' the original xover, unless it is broken.
Also I dont recommend the new Forte III as it yet use the same cheap steel frame and Ferrite magnet in the woofer and the same rectangular 19mm MDF box.

The only upgrade that worth invest is a woofer w/ Alnico 5 magnet if you can find.

FullRangeMan -- You're posting on the GR Research circle and encouraging a new member not to take advantage of a crossover upgrade GR Research provides. That ain't cool.

Hey JR -- disregard that advice and upgrade your speakers ASAP! You'll glue and zip-tie the crossover parts onto some thin wood, MDF, or pegboard. Another option is to ask GR Research to assemble the crossover for you or recommend someone who can. For what it's worth -- based on the pic in reply #68, the new crossover board appears to be twice the size of the stock board.
