BIG 7 VS Golden Atlantic TRP ??
« on: 26 Dec 2019, 07:02 am »
Merry Xmas guys!
Im having a hard time deciding which of the two models to go with, both similar price range.
Those that have experience both dacs, other than both are great, how are they different sonically ?
Some questions I'd like to ask:

a.) which of the two is more musical ?
b.) which of the two is more forgiving of poor recordings , not so great ancillary gears ?
c.) which of the two can fit more in a variety of gears ?
d.) which is more detailed ?
e.) which is more fuller, analog sounding ?

I plan to order either with a volume control and single ended (RCA) only output.

Thanks for the input guys.

Don’t hold me to this but the dac engine for both is what Lampizator calls engine 53.  The question that I would ask myself is which tube types do I prefer.  Do I like the sound of DHT (300,px25,242,45,etc) or Pentode (el34,kt66,kt77,etc).  The other thing to keep in mind would be cost associated with the tubes.  The Pentode tubes are cheaper to obtain.

I have not heard the trp but do own big7 that has been upgraded  to the golden gate and love the sound.

thanks for the input.
noted on your experiences.
wish someone here can share their thoughts on who has heard both that way I would know the sound differences or sonic differences between the two dacs.
