Bryston BDA-1
« on: 8 Sep 2019, 04:58 pm »
Hi,
New here.
Looking for an older DAC for about $500. The BDA -1 seems to fit the bill.
I want to use it with my Bluesound Node 2i and Accuphase DP-55 cd player.
I figure I can get full 192K from Qobuz and at the same time get an upgrade to my CD player.
My system is an Atma Sphere preamp, MK60 mono blocks and Sound Lab Quantum speakers
Also have a vinyl set up.
My system is 20 plus years old. I'm looking to upgrade but don't have a lot of cash flow.
BDA-1 seems to fit - multiple inputs, balanced output, upsampling. I can get one for $5-$600.
My other choice is a Gustard X20. It also has multiple inputs and balanced
Any recommendations of Bryston or Gustard
Any one still using the BDA-1 DAC. How does it match with a tube system.
Also interested in comments of the sound (in general) of the BDA-1
Thanks,
Mark

I loved mine and only switched to a BDA-2. No experience with Gustard, but I don't think you'll be disappointed with the Bryston, and could always put it up for sale again if it didn't work out.

hi, Merosen!

i bought my BDA-1 new back in 2008. still love it because of its neutrality. if that's what you are after then just go for it :thumb: but keep in mind that the usb input only allows 48/16 resolution.

if you could do a direct comparison with both dacs then this would be the ultimate way, of course.
