Paul Kaplan - passed away
« on: 15 Jul 2019, 01:51 pm »
Hi ALL,

Hope you are all well.

It is of deep sadness to learn that our long time friend Paul Kaplan has passed away.

If you are unsure who Paul Kaplan is, please click on "search this circle..." on the top left corner.

Martin has informed me yesterday that Paul has been battling cancer.  This is all I know.

Sad news.

Thank you,
Levi

RIP Paul (aka Occam)

Yet another old timer gone.   :bawl:

Before he turned industry, he posted often and I certainly learned a lot from him.

You are missed.  Condolences to the surviving family.  I know he was so damn proud of his son....

Definitely one of the "characters" in this hobby. He certainly left his mark.

Sorry to hear about his passing.

What a wonderful human being. I met Paul (Occam) during the NY Audio Rave days. Learned so much from him and my good friend Gordy, who also passed away - much too young.

RIP Paul and deepest condolences to his family.

So sorry to hear, RIP Paul and condolences to his friends and family.

We had exchanged messages on several occasions but had not managed to meet up at an audio show yet... he was very smart, honest and generally a nice guy, I enjoyed our interactions. He will be missed!

Sorry to hear this - Paul was always kind and gracious to me even though we had different ideas on audio.

I am very sorry to hear about Occam - I remember meeting Paul during the NY Audio Rave days.  He was very passionate about this hobby like many of us are.  I am sad to learn about his battle with cancer and passing.

Deepest sympathies his family and friends.  RIP

Vinnie

A sad day, Paul and I had many conversations and exchanges of ideas. I was fortunate enough to have him visit one year when he was in town for RMAF. A good man, rest in peace my friend.

RIP Paul Kaplan! I like others learned a great deal from him and used his Felix designs quite a bit. In fact I still have his Kaplan HE design.

I am deeply saddened to hear this :-(

Best,
Anand.

Sad news to hear.

Years back I owned many of Paul’s Kaplan HE power cords and I have a story: Evidently there was a member here that was trying to steal his PC ideas or replicate his cords or something like that, and I got wrapped up in it by sending Paul a cord to update/upgrade, that I had purchased used here on AC. He informed me that the PC was either altered or not made by his hands and I was accused of being a part of it all... Many months later, I got a call from Paul. He was simply calling to let me know that he knew I was not involved. I thought that was very nice of him to take that time to let me know. We didn’t know each other and I’m an unaffiliated nobody in audio, just an AC member, so he didn’t have to do that...but he did.

Rest in peace, Paul.

So sorry to hear this.   Paul was nice enough to meet up with me to listen to some music when I had a trip to NYC quite a few years back.
Brilliant mind, I really enjoyed talking audio with him.

RIP Paul.  I am saddened to read about this.  I loved his contributions to the forum.  I still have his HE copper cords in my system.  My condolences to his family.
