hi.what is the hi/lo gain button on dac 10 used for?

It’s a very nice feature that allows for adjustment of the output voltage to better match the input sensitivity of the amp / amps.

yes I thought so. which would the sta9 mono amp setup be best served by,hi/lo?

I would think the lower setting since it only takes 1.4 volts to bring the STA-9 to full power according to the specs.

Indeed, within the NuPrime realm, stay with the low setting.
But, agreed, a very useful feature when matching to other types of components.
