He picked out close matching tubes from 1965 that had the same exact date code."USN" White label, gold pins in original box.
I tried numerous 6922 tubes in a Dodd preamp that I owned for many years, and most recently I rolled some tubes in Dan's PH 9.0 SE phono stage. For the Dodd preamp my favorites were 1965 USN-CEP 7308 USA Amperex tubes. I think you will be very happy. My favorite tubes in the PH 9.0 SE are Telefunken tubes from the 60's (with the small print labels), but I also like old Siemens tubes depending on my mood.
Greg,Does the PH 9.0 also use 6922s?
Got one last week, it's a keeper, Thanks Dan
Yes I have some Siemens tubes in now with dampers. Do you know the fuse value did you try one?
I have found that tube dampeners can go either way. Sometimes I like the change in sound and sometimes I don't. Trial and error.
