It was great to meet Rick Craig and fabrication partner Kevin Kendrick in Dallas last weekend at LSAF 2019. Very impressive sound from both systems. What really exceeded any expectations I walked into their room with was the industrial design of the Omaggio CBT array Kevin Kendrick's talents and 5-axis CNC brought to the endeavor. I have long admired the theory behind Don Keele's CBT (Constant Beamwidth Transducer) line array while having the opinion 'too bad it looks so goofy in a living room'. The changing radius curves and proportions of Kendrick's work for Craig's CBT implementation flips that impression from CBT as insurance you remain (or become) a bachelor to an object that takes pride of place in the stylish home. And not to shortchange the Ritorno. Those faceted enclosures are not easy, but the quality on display tells me you can select any Selah Audio design and get it executed to the highest reasonable degree of precision and finish (and I guess for an up-charge to an unreasonable level). The sinker cypress veneer on the Ritorno is stunning.
I pride LSAF as a venue that caters to both the moneyed and middle class audiophile/music lover. My experience in Rick's room confirmed Selah Audio as a great resource for those of us who look to spend a few thousand to get sound in the tens of thousands class.
Here are the guys hard at it, Kevin on the left Rick on the right. This picture also shows how reasonably sized the Omaggio is given the large radiating area it delivers.
