Jitter is a concern during recording which is why most good recording studios have a Master clock for all operations to avoid problems.  Many modern DACs have improved resistance to jitter and most players now buffer the data stream before it goes to the DAC. Many players also have a buffered crystal or clock to reduce jitter.
