SOLDDon Sach SP14 Model 2 Custom Line Stage Preamp, L@@k!

I have really enjoyed Don’s SP14 pre amp and think it’s one of the most musical preamps I have ever owned.
I have recently acquired a vintage McIntosh MX110Z, which I have always wanted, and would prefer if the magnificent piece of work from Don not sit on my shelf! I have over $2300 invested in it.
This one comes with the 64 step Khozmo remote, 2 of the Shunguang Treasure CV181 Z tubes, Bendix 5852 Rectidier Upgrade, and the upgraded and beautiful Walnut Case. I am asking $1700.00
The Shunguang Treasure CV181's have about 75 hours of operation and so does the rectifier tubes are new. I had Don wire up 1 of the outputs for a Tube Amplifier and the other for a Solid State Amp. The SS output has a 3uF cap and the Other for the Tube Amp has a 47uF cap. This gives you awesome flexibility where you can use a SS Amp and/or a Tube Amp!

Slightly off topic, but how would you compare the sp14 as to the mx110z? I have an mx110z in fine condition, but the sp14 kits have caught my eye lately and i can't help wondering how they compare sonically.

Not a comparison I can accurately make because I used my all tube SPA II Phono Stage with it. The mx110z has its own Phono Stage and is very musical in my humble opinion. Once I picked up the mx110z and paired it up with my MC240’s, I was extremely satisfied with the sound. So much so that I decided to sell the NVO SPA II. So to be fair I cannot comment on how they would compare to each other. Now I can tell you that the NVO SPA II paired with Don’s SP-14 was quite magical. The MX110z does seem to be a bit warmer and tube sounding to my ears. I think the SP-14 with the SPA II did have an edge on being a bit more detailed. Soundstage seems to be very close between the two.

As the owner of the third of these preamps produced, I will say it is the finest preamp I have heard in my system in 45 years. It is shockingly good. (I just auditioned Don's companion KT88-based amp last week and ordered it after the session.) This a great preamp selling for a very reasonable price. Buy with confidence.
