1801b / Scan-SPEAK

Hello all,
this is my first post on this forum. I'm French, so apologize my poor English. 2 weeks ago I ordered a 1801b-kit and I wish to know the global sounds differences between scan-speak 2 way systems (5.5" or 7" / Revelator tweeter) and 1801b.
Thanks

Hubert,

Hmmm, this is a subjective question.  I could engage this question, but... won't.  I have obviously made a choice in this matter regarding sound quality.  The first speakers I built used the SS8545 driver.  These speakers were solid performers.  Indeed the SS drivers are very respectable.

I feel uncomforable about commenting further.  I suggest you post this query on the Maidound discussion board.  I believe these gentlmen will offer very accurate commentary on the matter.

Your question is very fair and reasonable.  However, I really don't like to get involved in self aggrandizement.  This runs rampant in hifi, and much of this relies on customer ignorance and 1/2 lies.  I find this very bothersome and wish to separate myself completely from any such dialogue.  I believe the reputation of any product is best presented from people with NO personal interest.

Sincerely,

Val
