I've played around with the current version (z545) and it is pretty cool. I think it is great that one of the big computer companies finally built a high volume HTPC in a case that will look right on a high-end audio rack.
I've considered buying one of the DECs (digital entertainment centers), but I wanted to wait for one that supported HDTV. The current version only has SD tuner and will not record HD material. The new one mentioned in the article you reference has an HDTV tuner. Also, I would like to get some feedback from someone who actually uses one in their home along with the extremely popular Panasonic EDTV 42" plasma (which I own). I don't want to go through the hassle of buying it and finding out that the PQ is not good with my plasma. HP offers a return policy, but I would rather know, up front, that the combo is a good one.
