I've had more inexpensive class d amps than I can say grace over but this one is by far the best. It's dual chip mono configuration features all film caps, two gain settings, a nice stepped volume control and handy mute switch. It also uses capacitance multipliers which allow it to sound great with just a cheap lap top power brick. The CM's must work because an expensive linear psu I tried made little if any difference.

That is a second Capacitance Multiplier ( CM ) and the other is built-in. Not required but allo.com recommends it. Haven't tried it without it so I don't know how much difference it makes.

Coilcraft inductors and SMD volume pot are a nice touch and should definitely add to improved fidelity over cheaper TPA3118 amps.

I'm intrigued by the Volt+D.  If you've heard the Fosi Audio/Breeze Audio/Nobsound TPA3116 amps, how does the Volt sound in comparison?

I've not heard those but based on the Volt+D's higher quality components I would expect better performance.

As good as it sounds I don't hesitate to use it with my Lowther open baffles.
