How about a couple of thick maple cutting boards. Drill four holes in the corners and install a threaded insert and choose the spile of your choice. Not on carpeted floors or have nice wood floors? Substitute the spikes with some sort of baby-buggy-rubber-bumpers like the following:

Just some thoughts.
I'm with Jake on this, except I'd use 80-20 for uprights. IMO,
much nicer than threaded rods.
Two lengths of this would make a 36" high rack:

36" is plenty high enough for a 4th shelf, if your gear allows for it. I use this exact BB under my TT.
Spend a few bux on stain and poly, and a gorgeous super solid 3 shelf single wide rack can be had for
about $300. A 4 shelf jobbie will be about $370. Very basic DIY skills / tools are required.
As a plus, the 80-20's continuous center channel means the shelf height is infinitely adjustable.
Or go even cheaper by finding some used butcher block (tables, kitchen / restaurant
renovations, etc) on Craigslist and refinish them. Doing this means you can do double wide,
3 or 4 shelves for the same $$ or less.
That's how I built my rack:

Total height is 34" but uprights are only 32". As you can see, there's plenty of room for a 4th shelf if desired.
I originally built a taller 4 shelf version, it's shown in my avatar. I've downsized so I cut 5" off the uprights and eliminated one shelf.
Not sure if this qualifies as C and C, but there you have it..............FWIW.
