Greetings all.

I just found Audio Circle today. I had a question about the Z-Man Audio Signal Enhancer. From a search, I noticed doug s. had made some comments. I sent him a PM. He replied quickly and succinctly.

From experiance with other Audio forums, most members are quick to complain, but rarely acknowledge help recieved.

Kudos to doug s. for all his help. I hope someday to return the favour to another fellow Audio Circle member.

Cheers,
Joe

Yes, and that is great that you post and let people know.  I too can vouch for Doug (but not his spelling     )

I notice you have a lot of the Old Citation Components from the Great Days of Harman Kardon.

I had 3 HK 16's with 2 of them "bridged" to run my 2 pair of stacked, mirror imaged, Dahlquist DQ-10s.

I ran a Citation 19 pre (which I still have but is retired) and the Citation 17, which sometimes helps out in my HT.

I also had the ST-8 Rabco with a Denon 103 and loved it.  (very sexy lights on that baby)

Welcome to AC.

That's really cool.. i have to say that is the same reason i have started to talk more here and not so much anywhere else.. I've PM'ed several people on this board (Phil Lam, Larry-T, Mark M., and more), and have gotten extremely helpful replies... this is the only audio board where you don't have to worry about people making sarcastic remarks because of your opinion... I've met some really cool people here in the short time i've been around.

edited to add: just noticed you are from Canada too!  welcome!

Always glad to see another Canuck join the ranks - welcome.

I have found this board to consistently be the most open, and fun, with the least amount of flaming, and or ego nonsense.

I read many others, but this is really the only one that I tend to participate in frequently - a great bunch of people that for the most part are as interested in learning, as they are in sharing what they have/value in their systems.

jeez, all this doug s. love-fest stuff is quite embarrassing!   :peek:   but seriously, thanks for the kind words.

i too, found this place to be a refreshing audio forum, after the heavy-handed censorship & favoritism to commercial interests i experienced over at audiogon.  and yes, tho there *are* a few flame-wars over here, i agree it's nothing compared to other forums i've seen.

and joe, re: your gear, as i mentioned to you in a pm, go get that hk tuna modded!!!  the hk citation 18 modded tuna is at the top of the tuna-school chez-sedon!

regards to all,

doug s.,
so many tunas, so little time...

Thanks Doug.

Where does one get info on mods for the Citation 18? (thought I would ask an open question in case others are interested)

Joe

stephen sank did an absolute bang-up yob on mine.  but, he's slow, he may test yer patience...

i'd highly recommend bill ammons, an excellent rf engineer & tuner maven. he's done work on two tunas i own - one i paid him for, the other i bought from someone else who had the work done - & he is outstanding to work with.  not sure if he's worked on a hk-18, but i am sure he could handle it.

and, you could also tweek the 18's built-in amp; besides hot-rodding the li'l amp, i had mine set-up so you can run speakers off the now-useless-for-antenna hookups...  i use a 75 ohm coax connector for the antenna.

stephen's website:

bill's email (this is not his day job):
ammonsphx@earthlink.net

Hey Joe. I see you listen to Jazz.fm. Surprised you can get that all the way up there in the valley. How do you get the signal? Internet? Cable?

sometimes the 'net loses someting in personal translation.  amir is a personal friend of mine - he owns a *really* nice furnishings shop in dc, & does a lot of complete custom remodels for his clients.  i was yust teasing him.  as he was me, w/his finger wagging.  he teases me for my strange way of internet comunications, & mebbe he was worried that *that* doug s. was gone, cuz the english here has been sorta straight-forward!   :D

regards to all,
