EAR 202 Advice

I am considering taking a flyer on the amp.My question is about matching with a low cost domestic pre amp.Any ideas,or technical difficulties to consider,given the digital technology?

The input impedance is 8Kohm, so I would think most passives would NOT work well.

What do you mean by low cost?

The Eastern Electric tube preamp sounded quite nice with my Acoustic Reality eAR Two. Cost is under $1k but I can recall specifics right now.

The Minimax is a great preamp. Btw, we tried it in my system (I have an Acoustic Reality eAR Two amp) and it sounded very nice. Compared with my Joule Electra tube pre, the Minimax had more extended treble and a bit more clarity. The Joule was a bit more musical and a slightly warmer overall tone. Keep in mind the difference in price: the Minimax is under $1k while the Joule is close to $4k!

The Minimax is very easy to tube roll... I think that Carlman's Minimax with upgraded tubes is a no brainer provided it fits in your budget.
