Hantra,

One of the advantages of transmission line enclosures is the flattened impedance curve it produces.  My 89 dB/w/m transmission line loaded Fostex F200A based speakers got as loud as I'd ever want with a 12 wpc tube integrated (with the volume control only up to 12:00).  Of course I'm an old fart and don't need more than 95 dB at home.

thayerg,

I've never heard that the Jolida 301 was a chip amp.  I heard it with Omega speakers at the 2003 Midwest Audio Fest and honestly was O.K. with it until a tube amp replaced it (and blew it away).  Sorry don't remember what tube amp.  I'm not a tube guy, but the tube amp sounded full bodied and fleshed out, more euphoric.

Dan Wright was also modding it at one time (RAM 301), turning it into a different amp but it wasn't cheap.  From a review of the RAM 301 by Scott Faller at TNT audio, "... so I first started looking at the JD 301. This little gem retails at about $350. The stock unit is a modest 30 watt Mosfet hybrid integrated amp."

The Jolida 301 is definetly NOT an op chimp based amplifier, unless are read the technicals wrong.  BTW, I despise Jolida, for long time ago, back in 1996, I was able to buy one of their earlier tube based produces, really affordable, but the tubes were dead, the craftsmanship was abysmal.  Obviously and plainly made in China is the worst sense of the way.  Since then, I have turned away from any Chinese made electronics unless I have no recourse.  From $350 to $1000, as the TNT review said, well, a grand is a large sum of money for a integrated from Jolida, mods or what not.  There are too many choices for that sum.  Stay away from Jolida.

Jolida was  indeed crap in 96 but they'vw gotten better.  The Chinese are certainly as capable as anyone else of making world class goods, and anyway tibe equipment is probably about the easisst electronic equipment to manufacture.

Sorry if I was wrong about the 301. I like how it sounds whatever the design.

eight years is an eternity in the electronics biz.  while i have no 1st hand experience w/jolida gear, to say that you should stay away based upon an experience yopu had w/a fledgling company's product back in 1996 is really kinda silly, imo.  jolida now has a reputation for building affordable *quality* gear.

and, to lump your criticism of all chinese gear w/your limited jolida experience is even sillier, imo.  i own a pair of asl wave 8's that have been bullet-proof.  now these discontinued amps routinely sell for more than their initial retail price.  check out this pair - not even modded!

and, my retail $300 korsun u2 integrated amp is also bullet-proof.  the quality of this piece was good enuff so that mark levinson had no qualms to silkscreen "red rose music" on its front & sell it for $2k...
