I ran across this thread while searching for something else but thought I’d add an update / observations.
My system has seen some improvements but the core remains the same: Bryston 28 squared, Pass Labs XP-32, VMPS-30 speakers
In the intervening years I upgraded all ICs and speaker cables, power cords, and got the Well Tempered 254-GT turntable and Grado Aeon cartridge. BTW, this table and cart are magical! The musicality! The detail! Music coming out of the blackness. It’s really something.
The sound transformation is something absolutely wonderful. Almost beyond words. The most surprising improvement came from better wires.
I know this is a touchy subject, but moving from Black Cat 32xx series to their Graceline Setsuna v2.2 took my system to a new level. Improved detail, better bass, “quieter”. It’s hard to believe unless one experiences it.
The power cables were also upgraded. Had Carda M on a couple components and now all 4 positions have Cardas Clear Beyond XL. Until recently I’d never been a believer that power cords could make a difference. But in my system they have and it’s easy to hear.
So here I am at the age of 70 with the system of my dreams. Been working to get to this place for 60 years. Some tears and quite a few $$$ to get it right, but wow oh WOW!
And my Bryston 28 squared mono blocks are the lynch pins.
I just wish James Tanner would consider building pure Class A mono blocks with 200 watts of power each. That would be something.
How about it James?
