I'm about to enjoy lunch in a 115-year old traditional Japanese wood home with sliding panels and tatami floors. The music is coming from a cute little turn table.

I had something like that as a kid, I taped pennies to the tonearm.

Surprisingly, some of the better Crosleys now come with magnetic cartridges.  Not great, but lots better than the good ol' ceramics with pennies.  :D

With the properly used (worn) albums, they can be a fun diversion in a pinch.  Enjoy.
