Hi all! I'm Marc, from San Francisco, California. I currently work in the tech industry but have a background in music (violinist). I was a long-time reviewer at Bound for Sound, a small high-end publication up to a few years ago.

Bound for Sound's claim to fame was that they accepted zero advertising - it was entirely supported by reader subscription fees. We were unabashedly subjectivist and liked to tell it like we heard it. I feel since BFS stopped publishing the industry lost a unique voice, so I'm trying to rekindle that a bit with my own blog, The Audiophile Weekend Warrior (TAWW). As you can tell from the name, I'm trying not to take things TOO seriously - this is a hobby after all. :)

I've got some good equipment on tap for review, and am always seeking out new things to audition. I'm strictly a stereo speaker guy (no 'phones, at least not yet), and value gear that can deliver musical realism balanced with everyday practicality and value-for-the-money. For the practicality reason, I'm focused on digital sources and solid-state gear, though I enjoy some tubes and own a tube DAC/line stage.

Excited to be part of the AudioCircle community. Please check out my blog, and drop me a line here, on my blog or on twitter (@audiophileww) if you've got ideas!

Cheers,
Marc

I was a long time subscriber and really enjoyed it. Met Marty years ago at a CES. I was disappointed when the publication stopped and Marty’s wife was kind enough to tell me why it ceased. Welcome aboard and looking forward to your reviews.

Great to have a dynamic like that around here, someone who is exploring different avenues and publishing impressions in an articulate, interesting way (from what I've read).

Have you experimented with distributed subs or other low frequency management strategies? I'm always looking for new takes on that sort of thing.

Anyway, happy holidays, and welcome.

In the 1970s there was a 3ch system, not for sub, just regular speakers, sadly gone.

Hey! Also a SF resident, and I go through way too much gear. I should let you review some of it. :)

Hi all! Thanks for the warm welcomes. Happy to see people remember BFS... it was a real privilege to write for Marty.

Incidentally, how long does my AC account stay in this initial probationary mode? I'll reply to any PMs as soon as I can. :)

Welcome aboard Marc!

I was a BFS subscriber for many years. At one time I was subscribed to (at least) 10 audio magazines a month, but the BFS newsletter was always my favorite. I look forward to reading your blog.

Cheers!
