A friend recently tried ordering one from AliEx and the order was cancelled when the merchant did not send within a given time frame. So they may not any to send. Amazon still shows inventory as of yesterday, but that doesn't help you of course.

That's funny, I just bought an ANK 4.1 DAC with the same chip and design philosophy.  Should be here this week.  Would be fun to compare it to this one.

A used one came up on eBay.  I've been waiting for a used 4.1 to come up for sale for at least 9 months, it's really rare that people actually sell them.

I did notice that the Flyinsky DAC on Amazon is an OTL design (ie, no output transformers after the tubes), so that probably rules it out for me.

Lookin' good. Still haven't hooked up mine yet. Busy setting up a MP 701 tube preamp. Then I'll add in the AD1865 tube dac. After that, build the Miro AD1862 dac from diyaudio.

just to note, you don't need the tube buffer.  i just got out of curiousity and it doesn't really improve the dac's sound.  it just changes it.

and you have a lot of patience not plugging the dac in yet!

Based on your recommendations, I bought the Flynski and i'm impressed! I replaced the stock tube and put in a Sovtek/Reflekor 6922. Any other tubes I should try?
Thanks!

I'm using a Brimar 6922. :thumb:  Haven't tried any of my Amperex 6DJ8's yet.

Thanks I'll check that out. The Reflektor sounds much better than the stock tube.

You're welcome.  FWIW,  I didn't fiddle with the rectifier tube.

You guys are killing me with this DAC. Here I am saving my pennies for a new pair of speakers, and I can feel myself getting distracted.  :nono: I'm ignoring all of you....really.... :peek:

Sorry missed this.  I like 6SN7 (I use RCA) with adapter.  6F8G (I switch between RCA and National Union) is actually my favorite but you have to use 2 adapters in tandem.

I did try a few NOS rectifier tubes but the diff is minimal.
