I have read the Michael Green forums, and have come to the conclusion that I cannot come to a conclusion.  Their philosophy is along the lines of tuning your entire system (reflections, too) and working with what you have rather than just eliminating sound.  I am wondering what your experiences have been.

My only piece of advice to all considering going this route is NOT to do it.

MG and whatever company he runs is a touchy subject wrought with litigation and other issues from the past.  He posted here in the past but things got a bit ugly so now he no longer does... or maybe he can't...

So, chances are you're not going to get a lot of positive or even constructive feedback on his stuff since not many bought them or wanted to deal with him.

While I'm laughing my ass off at this inside joke, I doubt many will get it unless they do a search and read the old threads.

Anyway as been mentioned before, MG and Co. made some audatious claims and were called on it.  Then they deleted every post that they made here, or tried to anyway. I use the plural here as his President, Mark Maclaughlin sp? deleted his posts too.

I would never buy from his company.

8th Nerve has similar products and Ethan Winer of Real traps has some great products as well.

The users on their forums are very sincerely into his way of doing things.  I have read positive words on various sites or sources but none addresses the entire "tunable system" philosophy.  That is where I am getting confused.

His stuff runs from relatively expensive to quackish with no real logical explanations for any of it.

Their approach to marketing reminds me of some of the mold remediation contractors spewing forth the horrors of mildew or the vacuum cleaner salesmen showing giant dust mites from hell.

Too many buzz-words, bull crap and half-truths.  Sonic aerodynamics notwithstanding!

Man...the guy sure has left some sour tastes in people's mouths.

I don't know him, and can understand why the rhetoric turns some people off, but have used some of his products and don't think they're all that bad.

Used his amp clamps way back when, and they did noticeably change/improve focus.

Also used his Roomtunes and cornertunes, and they helped a bit with smear and reflections (eventually moving on to echobusters, then to Argent Roomlenses, and now Tact gear).

Bought a pair of MG Rev 60i speakers some years back on closeout from Audio Adviser and thought they were pretty good (in the den). Liked them enough that I bought Hantra's Classic 60's for the bedroom a few years ago and still enjoy them. No, they don't measure up to my Talon Khoruses and they're probably overpriced, but they're warm and smooth and easy to drive and stage well.

Also have had good response regarding service--I thought I blew a woofer (was getting distortion) but an e-mail was returned suggesting I check to see if the crossover wire was touching the tuning bar.  It was.

I'm not discounting anyone's experiences that led to their negative impressions, but others have had OK experiences with the products.

I never tried doing full MG room tuning, though. Went hrough a phase of near-field listening, after hearing MG Chameleons at a show in the 90's. If nothing else, he was one of the early one's championing the idea of paying more attention to room acoustics.
