I've been looking at the Dodd 8 watt amp and his entry level pre. I wanted to know how well this would match up with the av3, is 8 watts enough.

The 8 watt amp will be fine if your not trying to play LOUD. There is a local fellow here that has some AV-3's with a 16 watt amp of mine and it does very very good! I have used the 8 watt mono's on my Alphas and it will play at a normal listening level, but not loud at all.
