Warm Hello from a Slowly Aging Audiophile
« on: 1 Aug 2017, 12:01 am »
Hi all - music nut here who has bought and sold enough gear to be happy with what he has (although who doesn't want to try every good speaker ever made, right?).

Music - I like almost all types. Spotify is my exposure and variety addiction. I have about 30 handpicked playlists with over 3000 songs covering almost all genres from the 50s until today. The really good stuff ends up as a piece of vinyl or a plastic for more critical listening. The day Spotify streams lossless will be a good day indeed.

Gear - Speakers:  Maggie 1.7s, Paradigm Mini Monitor v4, and Advent 2w's in the garage. Amplification:  Modded Music Reference RM9 tube amp, Emotiva XPA-2 SS amp, old Fisher receiver in the garage. Pre-Amps:  Sunfire Symphonic Reference and a Yammie CA-600. TT:  Denon DP30L. CDP: Pioneer DV-38a. DAC:  Emotiva XDA-1.

Other Hobbies - My '64 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible. Playing tennis. Building things. Reading. Good cigars. Good scotch. Good beer. My wife and her cooking. Exercising. Playing with my 95lb black lab and my 36lb Dachshund/Shepherd mix (oversized Dachshund in every dimension). Mentoring kids.

Good to 'meet' everyone and thx for having me!

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

There's nothing I can do about it so I might as well laugh while I still can :green:  Had to (seriously) break up an almost fight at a bar about a year ago.  I told them if they didn't behave, I'm perfectly capable of gumming them to death.  They didn't want to fight after that.
