Panasonic XR50-Bright?

I am consideriing purchasing a Panasonic XR50 to go with my AR.com/Ed Frias DIY speakers. The speakers run a little bright. Has anyone paired these two products up? Should I be concerned with the Panny being too bright? Appreciate your comments. Thanks.

Since you would be getting a receiver you have compromised your audiophile status.  Hence, you are now cleared to use tone controls!  From what I've read here, the JVC might be a tad more restrained sounding.

I don't have direct experience with the XR50, but rather with its predecessor, the XR25.  I would be concerned about brightness with that combo.  2 suggestions (in order of likely effectiveness):

1.  Modify the Ed Frias speakers using the GR Research crossover to solve the brightness issue.  Details are available either at Speaker City or GR Research.

2.  Go with the JVC RX-F10 instead of the XR50.

I would more strongly recommend the first option, since it deals directly with the problem.  The second option simply makes the problem more tolerable (but it involves less effort/$).
