One of the cheap Yaqin tube buffers and some NOS Sylvania tubes would be a good way to get your feet wet.

I bought a 6N3 HIFI board and I think the tube sound is great. Very tubular;>}
However, after having to buy a power supply, figure out a case.....I would not go that route again; OK I probably will but not soon.
I think just popping for a built unit might be a tad more expensive when it is all said and done.
My board cost 32, power supply, 20, case shop built and looks like it.
I would do this instead. Actually, I still might.
