I received these in 1991 for my 40th birthday. I'm the original owner. They are serial #00003 but only the woofers are original. During the first couple of years the ribbons and crossovers both failed and were replaced by Carver. The ribbons are 60", rather than the two 30" that were original. Since then the only issue was a cap in one of the crossovers. They could no longer find an exact replacement so that particular cap is a different brand in each speaker. The plastic inset with the speaker connections and fuses cracked on both speakers and we replaced it, picture below. The oak is in excellent condition and the grills look very good too. They were not used for the last 8 years, when I got the Salk HT3's. Speakers work fine, just finished a week of using them. Used these for years with the Carver TFM-75 trying to recreate live Dead shows at home

They are 33" wide at the base and 66" tall. They weigh a little over 100lbs each. (112lbs in the packaging which was just cardboard and some Styrofoam)
The depth is 11" with the base, which is 10". The woofers are "boxed" with an open back which is 5". So speakers are 6" deep without the stand.

I can't believe that these are still available!  I owned a pair of gloss black Platinums, which I loved.  I had to sell them when I moved and didn't have enough space, but I still miss them.  This is a great price for what appears to be a pair in excellent condition.  Also, if you prefer the oak to gloss black, this finish is very rare!  I challenge anyone to find more speaker for $500!  I honestly don't think it can be done.

And, no, I don't know the seller.  But, I know these speakers, and this is a heck of a deal.

Agreed! When I had the room, this was one of my faves. When set up properly, they can disappear in the room.
