Long story trying to make this short! I picked up some older bryston gear for a deliciously reduced price and along with it came a rotel rt 1080 tuner, bryston spv-1 video switcher, bryston sp1.7 pre amp and an audio research preamp ls9.

trying to streamline this down for my use (mostly digital content movies high quality mp3's and flac files) any opinions if the bryston 1.7 is better than the audio research?

I haven't set the rig up as of yet but am leaning towards keeping the bryston 1.7 just to go with the amps but figured I'd ask!

Also, I recognize the 1.7 doesn't have hdmi and a lot of my stuff is digital was considering a new oppo product to put in the mix for DAC https://www.oppodigital.com/sonica-dac/ or is the 1.7 digital optical good to go???

Appreciate any help, oh also these are the amps, I am thinking of selling the 14b and the silver 4b and just running with the others....

bryston 3b sst (black)
bryston 4b st  (silver) thinking of selling
bryston 4b sst (black)
bryston 14b st (black) thinking of selling

Appreciate any thoughts, suggestions!

What are your speakers? Sensitivity and load?
(I would keep the 4B-sst and 14B. But I'm biased -- I use 14B-SST2   :thumb:)

Why don't you listen to them both over several weeks and keep the one you like best?

Probably doesn't have the time for critical listening -- and with that many diff combinations/permutations there....  :o

If you decide to get Maggies, then hang on to the 14B-SST.   :D
