Different doesn't make one better than another. I personally didn't care for the one I had and sold it off. Let's praise the fact we have many choices in the DAC world for all of us to have a reining champion in our own systems.

Bah! Obviously the best sounding source was the Donald Fagen LP! A close second was the Rush Hemispheres LP I played! 

Everything else was BORING. Except the chili, Rich's hospitality and my sweet smelling lubricants.

Of course......was actually looking for an ESS based dac like the Vega but using the new ES9038PRO chip. I think Gustard has a new one on the market. I preferred the Gustard over the Vega, both using an ES9018 chip. Still have the Custard. What did you have in mind? No $10K DACS please
