Thank you.  I am working on the Sonica DAC right now and I expect that the design will transfer nicely over the the 205 as I expect the analog stages to be very similar.

Excellent, reading that confirms to me that they put the same digital and analog audio 'engine' in the Sonica DAC.  I have the mod for that complete, so as soon as the UDP-205 is available, it is just a matter of adapting the mechanical layout to accommodate the 205.

Good to know that they are FINALLY about the release the 205!

I can tell you based on my results with the Sonica DAC, that the UDP-205 is going to be GREAT with our mods!

No clue on how long it will take. I assume many weeks. Been waiting for Oppo to release this for many, many months, so I am not in a huge hurry. I am practicing my patience.....

Have to figure out another GTG at some point. My HT/2 channel system is kind of "Shoe-horned" into a room and acoustics are a nightmare. I have it so the sound is pretty good at my seat, but everywhere else sounds pretty bad.

Maybe you should have had it shipped to you so you could have checked it out for awhile?  Dan won't even start the design until next week after he gets back from Axpona, then he has to mod his own unit, test it, etc before he starts on anybody else's.  Did you get the email from Kristen?

I have learned patience at this point. I'm always afraid that extra rounds of shipping and packing/unpacking is more likely to lead to issues.

I know Dan has a busy schedule between regular work, Shows, and design. I am more than happy to wait. If I am correct, this will be a player that may well be my last (barring unforeseen future technologies).

Not yet. Expected delivery is tomorrow "by end of day". I hope to have it hooked up Thursday evening and start listening Friday.

I keep telling myself "Patience young Weed Whacker" using the Voice of Master Po.

My fear in attempting to describe the sound improvement is that I only have an unmodified Oppo 95 for comparison. I'm fairly confident the sound will be easily better, but that may not be saying too much. I know what I always think of as the shortcomings of my "Frankenstein" Speaker setup as well as room limitations. I'm hoping that those issues will no longer be as problematic and everything more enjoyable, especially the more poorly recorded discs. Well recorded discs sound pretty good already and I will focus on those to see what the changes are. I'll run through my usual pieces first, then go from the there. I'll come back to those "Reference" pieces after the player has had some break-in time. Not sure how soon I want to put the 5R4GYS into the PS. The impatient part of me says to put it in right away and then I can switch back to the supplied tube later for comparison.
