Beard P35 el84 British amp
« on: 8 Dec 2016, 01:52 pm »
I just got a Beard P35 EL84 amp--the original, not the MKII version.

Wondering if anyone had an owners manual for it?

My amp has two rocker swithes on the front, labeled "Half Power" and "Full Power".

The amp hadn't been used in years, so I hooked it up to a pair of speakers and my cell-phone music as a source, then brought it up on a variac over the course of 6 hours on "Half Power."

The Half Power" lamp comes on, all the tubes glow and the amp sounds glorious.

I tried the full power switch: No lamp. No output. Only difference is the amps jump on the variac.

I'm hoping that a manual with explain the difference between half and full power (Triode and pentode?) and whether both half and full rockers should be on in full power.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The half power switch problably refer to half plate voltage(B+) option.

OBS.: an correction the plate voltage is not HALF (50%) but a lower voltage value.
