Well, I've been trying to hold off showing anything until this was together, but I JUST CAN'T HELP IT!!! I'm pretty excited about how this is working. Basically this is a new construction technique that I've come up with. There is NO WOOD in this cab. It's a composite 1 piece skin, solid 1.18" thick inversion layer sidewalls, .5" corian inner baffle and a 1" thick corian outer baffle with a waveguide shaped in, with a .5" thick bottom with a .5" inversion layer built on top of it. What do you guys think?

Love the waveguide. Is the woofer transmission line? What frequency range are you looking at? Sensitivity, etc?
Good Luck, looks GREAT so far.

These guys aren't the lightest speakers I've ever seen. Corian runs a bit on the heavy side, but it doesn't ring like the aluminum that I was going to use for the baffles.

This design isnt using a TL. The TLabs tweet target is 1000Hz. These still need finishing and testing of course.

What is the sonic benefit of using the materials in this design vs. wood?

The sonic benefits have yet to be tested. I can say that just sticking your head in where the baffle should be while talking is very telling. I think the cabs' shape in conjunction with my take of the inversion layer makes for an extremely dead cab. It's almost like a sound "black hole". Maybe I should copyright that term. I'm very excited about this prototype.

I am trying to have a more stable cabinet by not using any wood in its construction. Wood has the ability to absorb moisture, or to dry out and shrink. That can affect joints and the finish of my speakers. So I started this prototype.
